The Foreign Worker program is available to Alberta employers as a means of filling job vacancies that are unable to be filled through normal Canadian recruitment efforts.
The Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) is designed and must be looked upon as a “temporary” program, primarily in place to fill an immediate or urgent labour need. Although most TFWP options offer a possibility of having work permits renewed, work permits changed, or having workers remain in Canada on a permanent basis, it is important that employers avail themselves of the most recent details on programs or streams and identify what best fits their short- or long-term human resource strategy.
